The Long Beach Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 1515 Hughes Way, Long Beach, CA 90810, to approve a contract recently negotiated with the Teachers Association of Long Beach. The Board will also approve increases for management and non-represented employees under a "me too" process that gives non union employees the same increases as given to union employees.

The contract increases all salaries 5% retroactively to July 1, 2014. In addition,
changes were made to health and welfare deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums for the PPO plans effective January 1, 2016. Other modifications included changes to the district special day class average class size and general education average class size to meet the requirements under the Local Control Funding Formula for class size reduction funding. Language was also negotiated related to the kindergarten teacher duty day, job share requirements, and employee reimbursement for damaged vehicles.

LBUSD  reached agreement with its classified personnel whom are represented by CSEA (California School Employees Association). Ratification resulted in revisions to the Unit A and Unit B bargaining unit contracts, including a 3% increase in all salary schedules for bargaining unit members, retroactive to July 1, 2013. In addition, language was modified to align both Unit A and Unit B contracts with the school calendars that were approved on March 4, 2014.

LBUSD also plans to negotiate compensation with the local California School Employees Association chapter in the coming weeks.
